Jhyanglang Primary School

Nepal

Following the 2014 earthquakes in Nepal, PMI Engineers were involved in the engineering of the new Jhyanglang Primary School. By using light-weight steel and CSEB (Compressed Stabilised Earth Brick) made from the local soil we were able to help design a structure which was resilient to earthquakes and easily constructible using local labour and materials.

This project is part of our Pro-Bono engineering work, with the brick press staying in the village to be used to construct locals houses after the school is complete.

The prototype building is likely to be replicated elsewhere throughout Nepal.
