Our founding director Professor Max Irvine established PMI Engineers in 2001, bringing with him over 30 years of experience in academia and engineering practice.

Max has held a number of prestigious positions throughout his career, including professorships at MIT and UNSW. In these roles, he has mentored and taught countless students, helping to shape the next generation of structural engineers. Max published ‘Cable Structures’ in 1981, a pioneering book where the engineering theory in the subject was first presented.

During his career Max was involved in a number of global projects from a 1000m suspension bridge in Indonesia, to tuned liquid dampers in the British Airways i360. This expertise in structural mechanics and dynamics formed the foundation for PMI Engineers, and has been carried into a number of award-winning residential and public projects both within Australia and overseas.
